Since 1953, the Small Business Administration's mission has been to promote the growth of America's 28 million small businesses.  The SBA works in collaboration with partner organizations and uses cutting-edge technologies and well-tested best practices to multiply its impact.

SBA's Chief Information Officer (CIO) oversees the Office of the CIO with assistance from the Deputy CIO, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and other executives/senior professionals who together manage a staff of about 60 full-time employees and 168 contractor personnel. The Agency's portfolio of information technology systems and investments total approximately $95 million, with about one-third of that total under the CIO's direct control and the remainder associated with program-specific major applications.  The CIO is the primary executive responsible for information technology and collaborates with peer executives to achieve the Agency's program mission through the effective use of information technology
